When Experience Becomes Embodied Wisdom

And why having a structure doesn't mean deciding the answer before we begin.

I've discovered something rather interesting lately.

I've been trying to explain to an AI how I do what I do.

Not how to write something for me or organise my business.

I've been teaching it enough about the way I work that it can actually work alongside me.

That turned out to be much harder than I expected.

Not because I don't know what I'm doing.

Almost the opposite.

After more than 30 years of working with natural therapies, energy, body, emotion, belief, consciousness and spiritual development, there are things I no longer consciously work through step by step.

I recognise them.

Something fits.

Something doesn't.

I know where I want to look next.

Then along comes an AI asking, essentially:

"Yes, but why?"

And suddenly I've had to reverse-engineer myself.

Some knowledge eventually lives in the body

We all begin by learning.

We learn theories and techniques. We learn what particular signs might mean. We learn systems created by the people who came before us.

Then we practise.

And practise.

Eventually some of that knowledge changes.

It isn't forgotten. It becomes embodied.

For me, much of that embodiment seems to involve my hands.

My hands are my interface.

They have been for decades.

They're part of how I perceive, enquire and communicate within my work.

For many years I didn't need to explain that process particularly deeply.

I trusted my hands.

But lately I've been asking a fascinating question:

How do I know what I know through them?

The systems that teach us where to begin

Earlier in my career I used some of the symptom-and-belief correspondences that many people will recognise from the work of Louise Hay and others.

They gave us an important foundation.

They invited us to consider that a physical symptom might not exist completely separately from our emotional lives, beliefs and experiences.

I found those frameworks useful.

Until eventually they ran out of places for me to go.

Human beings were simply too complicated.

A particular physical symptom couldn't always mean one particular thing.

The longer I worked with people, the more obvious that became.

The answer wasn't to throw away everything I'd learned.

I needed a larger structure for enquiry.

Biosenetics became a major part of that structure

For many years, Biosenetics has been the primary therapeutic approach people have come to me for.

Often those people have already tried other things.

Sometimes many other things.

They may already understand themselves extremely well. They may have explored physical, emotional, psychological, complementary or spiritual approaches.

Perhaps some of those things helped.

But something remains.

Something keeps repeating.

Or they simply have the sense that there is another piece they haven't found yet.

Biosenetics gives me more than nine different areas of focus through which I can enquire.

That doesn't mean it contains every possible answer.

It gives me somewhere to begin looking.

And that's an important distinction.

Structure is not prescription

I love structured systems.

But I don't want a system deciding who you are before we've even begun.

A prescriptive system says:

"You have X, therefore it means Y."

The way I use structure is different.

It says:

"Here are the territories available to us. Where do we need to look?"

Within my experience of energetic interface, the being I'm working with can respond through the structure I'm using and direct the enquiry toward what has relevance.

I don't need to decide intellectually beforehand where we're going.

The structure gives both of us a working language.

Structure gives us somewhere to look without telling us what we must find.

That's why I use it.

Not because I think human beings are simple.

Because I think we're gloriously complicated.

Then the way I worked had to change

Originally, Biosenetics was hands-on work.

My hands were quite literally part of the interface between me and the person I was working with.

Then COVID changed what was possible.

My move to Macleay Island changed the practical realities of my practice as well.

If somebody wasn't physically in the room with me, what happened to work that had previously involved physical touch?

I had to reformulate Biosenetics so I could work remotely over Zoom.

And I discovered something important.

My hands remained my interface.

But apparently the other person's body didn't need to be physically underneath them.

I had to separate the underlying process from the particular way I had previously delivered it.

That changed my understanding of my own work.

And it continued to evolve.

From symptoms to systems

That evolution is part of what eventually led to the Somatic Spiral System — SSS.

Instead of starting with a symptom and asking:

"What belief does this mean?"

SSS gives me a much broader field through which to enquire.

It can take us through sensory experience — taste, touch and pressure, sound, colour and symbol, smell — as well as environmental and relational influences.

The enquiry can also move through cellular and structural areas, metabolism, fluid and immune territories.

Again, the point isn't that all of these areas must be involved.

The point is that we don't decide the answer before we ask the question.

So rather than asking:

"What does this symptom mean?"

SSS allows us to ask:

"What larger pattern might this symptom be part of?"

That's a very different enquiry.

And then came QSP

More recently I've been developing and documenting Quantum Spiral Praxis — QSP.

And that's where my AI companion became particularly troublesome.

Because I could give it information and it could interpret that information perfectly logically...

…and I would know it was wrong.

"No. That's not it."

Fair enough.

But then it wanted to know why.

Why did one piece matter more than another?

Why couldn't two meanings simply be combined?

What was I recognising that allowed me to know an interpretation didn't fit?

Suddenly I wasn't simply developing QSP.

I was having to explain some of the discrimination underneath the way I had worked for decades.

I had to take embodied knowledge and make enough of its architecture visible that another intelligence could follow it.

And that led me to a realisation I love:

AI didn't teach me how to do my work.

Trying to teach AI how I do my work taught me something about myself.

QSP may be relatively new as a named methodology.

What sits underneath it isn't.

The system is a map, not the person

That's probably one of the most important distinctions in all of my work.

Biosenetics is a map.

SSS is a map.

QSP is a map.

They are different maps designed for different kinds of enquiry.

None of them is you.

No system I create could possibly contain every expression of a human being.

Nor would I want it to.

A useful map helps us navigate the territory.

It doesn't pretend to be the territory.

And after more than 30 years of doing this work, I certainly don't believe I've discovered everything there is to know about human beings.

Quite the reverse.

The territory looks bigger to me now.

What those years have given me is the ability to recognise patterns, ask better questions, notice what fits — and notice when something doesn't.

Perhaps you've already tried a lot

Many people arrive at my work after they've already been searching for some time.

They aren't necessarily looking for someone to give them another explanation of what's "wrong" with them.

Often they have plenty of explanations already.

What they may not yet have found is the pattern connecting the pieces.

And that's the territory that continues to fascinate me.

What are we actually looking at?

Biosenetics, SSS and QSP each give me different ways of asking that question.

They give us structure without assuming the answer.

They give us somewhere in an enormous haystack to begin looking.

And then we follow what we find.

Because the human being isn't a diagnosis, a symptom, a belief or a collection of energetic correspondences.

The human is gloriously complicated.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.

My hands are still my interface.

The difference is that after more than thirty years, I'm finally beginning to put into words some of what moves through them.

Notice the pattern. Change what's possible.
