Loneliness That No Hug Can Heal

There’s a kind of loneliness that doesn’t come from being alone. It comes from remembering.

Most people know loneliness as the absence of companionship or connection. A hug, a conversation, or time with loved ones can often ease it. But there is another kind — the loneliness of the soul who has spent more time in other dimensions than in the patterns of human life.

For me, this is a different ache. I’ve spent much of my energy working in the field — helping, weaving, holding spaces that most people never see. Out there, belonging feels effortless. It isn’t about fitting into a personality or role, it’s about being part of a vast living current.

So when I return here, into a body, with all the expectations of “being human” — building relationships, choosing careers, inhabiting roles — something in me aches. Not because I don’t care, or don’t value touch, but because the loneliness I carry is not soothed in the same ways. A human hug may warm my body, but it doesn’t always reach the part of me that remembers a different belonging.

This is why I create. Blogs, courses, symbols, rituals — they are my bridges. They give form to the formless, so that even if I can’t fully live “out there,” I can invite pieces of it here.

Maybe that’s what heals this loneliness: not pretending it doesn’t exist, but turning it into pathways that let others feel the field too.

Because the truth is, many of us carry this ache. And maybe we’re not as alone in it as we think.
