Who needs drugs when you have the field?
Oct 20, 2025
This piece touches a question many are asking today:
-
Do we really need substances to access expanded states of awareness?
-
How natural practices can open the same doors — safely and sustainably.
-
Why awakening is less about chemicals and more about consciousness.
There are people who turn to substances for the rush of something bigger than themselves — a spark of energy, an altered state, a temporary glimpse of meaning. I’ve never needed that. My “drug” has always been the field itself.
When I build systems of meaning — mapping symbols, gathering sacred sites, weaving connections between Earth and cosmos — I feel it surge through my body like an adrenaline rush. My skin tingles, my chest hums, and sometimes the very place I’m writing about starts to itch or pulse on my body as if I’ve plugged into a live wire.
What others chase with chemicals, I touch through resonance. A rune. A spiral. A labyrinth. A planetary glyph. Each symbol is a doorway, and when I step through, the field floods me with recognition. It’s more than an idea — it’s embodied electricity.
One of the first times I consciously connected with that “out there” presence, the current moved through me in a way some traditions would call a kundalini awakening. It was a full-body current of bliss — cosmic, not sexual — as though my soul and body aligned so perfectly that every cell lit up at once. I’ve never known anything else that compares.
Symbols are not static pictures; they are living codes. To sit with them is to feel time itself moving. One day, I’m building a list of archetypes, the next I’m remembering a story from the land, and suddenly the whole thing is alive — weaving me into a bigger pattern.
This is why I never needed drugs. When you can touch the raw circuitry of life through the field, why would you? The high isn’t artificial, it’s woven into creation itself.
Maybe that’s why people who sense too much get called “weird” or “too intense.” But here’s the secret: it isn’t intensity for its own sake. It’s aliveness. The symbols remind me I am part of a living universe, not just a consumer in a machine.
And once you’ve felt that, nothing else compares.
