When Understanding Is Not Enough - What Happens Next
Journeys Beyond with Shamarie
Have you ever understood exactly why you respond the way you do... and still found yourself doing it?
You know the relationship is different now, but your body still braces for the old argument.
You know you are safe, but something inside you remains watchful.
You know you no longer have to please everybody, keep the peace or take responsibility for how everyone else feels... but the old response arrives before your conscious mind has had time to vote.
Or perhaps you have worked on something for years. You have talked about it, journalled about it, meditated on it, forgiven it, released it and possibly declared it healed on several separate occasions.
And yet, under the right circumstances, there it bloody is again.
If you have listened to some of my previous episodes, you will have heard me speak about the difference between conscious understanding and the patterns our bodies may continue to carry.
If this is your first episode, the short version is this: understanding matters, but understanding is not always where the pattern lives.
Something may also be organised through the body, emotions, automatic responses, identity, relationships or the energetic field. Our conscious mind may be completely sincere when it says, "I know this is no longer necessary," while another part of us is still responding as though it is.
Today, I don't want to spend the whole episode explaining why that can happen. I want to talk about what we can do next.
More specifically, I want to answer a practical question:
When might someone bring this to me, and how might a Biosenetics session help?
People sometimes hesitate to book a session because they don't know how to explain what is happening.
They may not know whether the problem is emotional, physical, energetic, psychological, spiritual or something else entirely.
They may not even be certain what the problem is.
They only know something like:
"I'm not coping with this."
"Why is this still happening?"
"I thought I had dealt with this years ago."
"I understand it, but my body still reacts."
"I keep ending up in the same situation."
"Something feels wrong, but I can't explain what."
Those are perfectly good places to begin.
You do not need to diagnose yourself. You do not need to study my various systems and arrive knowing whether you need Biosenetics, a reading, reprogramming or something else.
My job is to listen to what is happening, ask questions and determine what appears to be the simplest appropriate place to start.
The client's problem is the doorway. My modality is not the doorway.
You can bring something immediate.
Perhaps you are emotionally overwhelmed by what is happening now. A relationship has changed. Someone has died. Your circumstances have shifted. You are trying to make a decision, manage a conflict or stay steady while life is asking more of you than you currently feel able to give.
You can bring a recurring response.
Perhaps you become anxious, angry, frozen, compliant or withdrawn in a particular situation. You may recognise the response and even know where it came from, but recognition has not stopped it from happening.
You can bring a pattern.
Perhaps you keep finding yourself in relationships with similar dynamics. You repeatedly abandon your own needs. You struggle to maintain a boundary. You know what you want to do, but some internal brake seems to come on whenever you move towards it.
You can bring something connected with your body.
I do not diagnose illness through Biosenetics, and this work does not replace appropriate medical or psychological care. But a physical concern may be part of a wider picture, and sometimes people want to explore what emotional, mental, somatic or energetic material may be present alongside it.
You can also arrive without a list and say, "Let's see what comes up."
Some clients are dedicated list bringers. Others have one very specific issue. Some lie down and hand the agenda to their body.
All are acceptable.
Biosenetics is active, questioning and investigative.
I don't decide in advance what your problem means. I don't take one symptom, attach my favourite explanation to it and then try to make you fit the theory.
We start with you.
I ask questions, and there are no right or wrong answers. You are not being tested, and you do not have to work out what I want you to say.
One way I describe the process is that a relevant question helps us open the file where particular material is stored.
We ask. We open. We locate. We work. We check.
Sometimes opening the file seems to be enough. Something that has been held there can shift without us needing to construct a lengthy explanation.
Sometimes the first question opens another question.
I may notice an emotion, a belief, an image, a physical location, an energetic pattern or something connected with identity or relationship. I might tell you what I am perceiving and ask what happens in you when I say it.
Your response gives us more information.
And sometimes what appears does not make immediate logical sense.
That doesn't automatically make it profound or true. It simply means we don't have the whole picture yet.
We continue carefully enough to discover whether it is relevant.
This is where Biosenetics differs from a reading.
A reading primarily offers information, perspective and a map of what may be operating.
Biosenetics is active facilitation.
We are not only asking, "What is this?"
We are also asking, "Can we work with what is active here?"
Depending upon what presents, that may involve clearing something, completing an interrupted response, working with an emotion, restoring a boundary, changing a belief, using reprogramming or helping different parts of the system come into a more coherent relationship.
We might encounter a memory, a family pattern, inherited material, a relationship, something held in the body or what I experience as energetic material that does not belong to you.
Within the metaphysical framework I work with, material can sometimes appear connected with another time, another place, a past life or the soul's own history.
You do not have to adopt my entire worldview for us to work together.
I can describe what I perceive without demanding that you turn my interpretation into your belief.
I have working models developed through decades of practice. I use them because they help me determine where to look and what may be useful to do. But I am also comfortable leaving the ultimate mechanism in the basket marked UNKNOWN.
Science stays. The woo stays. UNKNOWN stays.
Most importantly, you stay.
Biosenetics can go almost anywhere, but I want you present in your body while we work.
This is not about helping the spiritual part of you escape the inconvenient human part. The body is not a disposable meat suit that needs to be overruled in service of a supposedly higher agenda.
The body is an active participant. It has its own history, intelligence, responses and priorities.
And because it is the one carrying the mortal life, it gets considerable say.
Sometimes a person wants something to change, but another part of their system resists.
I do not regard that as evidence that the person is uncooperative, not ready, not spiritual enough or secretly committed to suffering.
Resistance is information.
If something will not release, I do not want to get into a tug-of-war and pull harder.
I want to know why it is holding on.
What does it believe it is protecting?
What might happen if it stopped doing its job?
When did this response become necessary?
Does another part of the system trust the proposed change?
Biosenetics does not try to win a fight with your system. It finds out why the system is fighting.
Often, what looks irrational from the outside has its own internal logic. A response may have developed under very different circumstances and continued because nobody has yet told the body, in a language it can use, that the circumstances have changed.
I cannot promise what will happen in a session.
Sometimes a person experiences a clear shift while we are working. Sometimes the change becomes apparent later when they encounter an old situation and realise they have responded differently.
Sometimes they leave with greater clarity about what has been happening. Sometimes they feel lighter, calmer or better able to deal with the situation. Sometimes there is another layer to work with.
And sometimes the work shows us that a different kind of support or next step would be more appropriate.
The aim is not to make you dependent upon me or to keep finding endless layers because the business requires another appointment.
A person may need one session and be finished. They may bring one particular issue for a small number of sessions. They may choose periodic maintenance, or they may undertake deeper work over time.
Completion is a valid outcome.
What I am working towards is greater clarity, capacity, choice and sovereignty.
Not control over every event in life. Not a promise that you will never be triggered or overwhelmed again. And not spiritual perfection.
Something more practical:
More room between what happens and how you respond.
More access to yourself.
More ability to recognise what is yours and what is not.
And, where change is possible, a way of working with the pattern rather than only explaining it.
If you are wondering whether my work might be useful, begin with what is happening.
Tell me what you are struggling with, what keeps repeating, or what you would like help understanding or changing.
You can also tell me whether you primarily want information or whether you want to work directly with what is active.
If you want information, a reading may be the simplest place to begin.
If you are saying, "I don't only want to understand this. I want help working with it," Biosenetics may be the more appropriate doorway.
You do not need the perfect terminology.
You do not need to know whether the answer lies in the body, mind, emotions, energy, soul or somewhere else.
You arrive.
I ask questions.
We follow what presents.
And we see what is ready to be worked with now.
Occasional belching may be included at no additional charge.
If you would like to explore working with me, you can find the details in the episode description or visit shamarie.com.au.
And if you are unsure where to begin, simply tell me what is happening. We can start there.
With steadiness and wonder,
I'm Shamarie.
